Most often children suffer from so-called, „domestic violence”. But if and in family children suffer from violence (physical or psychological), they have the only way out - street. After that teenagers quite often start to commit crimes as statistics testifies.

Rehabilitation Center for children suffered of violence was open by our Fund with the support of "Kerkinactie" (the Kingdom of Netherlands) organization where they can get consultation of a psychologist, social worker and also go free-of-charge through medical checkup.

Meetings carried out by our Foundation with social teachers and deputy directors on educational work of schools of Lugansk confirmed the urgency of the problem of violence and revealed ignorance of the legislation on preventive maintenance and counteractions to this negative phenomenon. To meet a lack, the brochure „Domestic violence: how to protect a child” was released in which the information and recommendations on work with the given category of children is collected.

Volunteers of the Foundation regularly take part in school parental meetings, faculty councils on which the questions of preventive maintenance of domestic violence and responsibility for its perpetration are discussed.



The problem of violence over children is very serious. And, this phenomenon is spread among all strata of the population of region. And it is important to know, that mental traumas, experienced by a child in childhood, deform his/her life and destiny. Unhappy children keep inside a powerful charge of mental illness for all society.

Any kind of cruel treatment with children results to various consequences, all of them mean a common thing - damage to health of the child or danger to his/her life. Negative consequences for health are: loss or deterioration of function of any organ, development of disease, disorder of physical or mental development. From 100 cases of physical violence on children approximately 1-2 end with death of the victim. Time is required to heal external, physical traumas, but yet it is more time and efforts required to heal spiritual wounds, mentality of the child injured from beating and humiliations received from a close person.

To change the situation it is necessary, first of all, to improve activity of bodies of social protection of children, departments on family and youth affairs (authorized to deal closely with this problem), bodies of tutelage and guardianship where often work nonprofessionals - salaries are small (there is no interest in work). Non-specialists, often former teachers are hired, who do not know how to work or are afraid to show initiative. They are obliged to register cases of regular humiliation of a child, visit families; they are obliged to inform the service on minors' affairs. Interference in the situation in a family, protection the rights of a victim are the major elements of protection, but the greater attention is necessary to give the early preventive maintenance. We appeal to the all interested services to be more active. It is not a person who has to seek them, but these services should search for the people who need their help. At present this problem is not raised up and, hence, is not highlighted, and people do not know all the matter. In the USA, Germany, Holland, the Great Britain people are even rather afraid of the experts on the social work, engaged in children's protection against violence. Their duties include the direct interference into the situation and supervision of its possible repetition. They are empowered with large powers, up to institute proceedings or submit a petition for alienation of a child from parents.
